日向石是一種火山浮石，是由日本 宮崎縣 日向市 這個地方生產的多孔而輕量型園藝用土，看上去和 鹿沼土 有點像，也像其他浮石一樣十分乾燥，是經過高温殺菌處理的輕石，能提高土壤的排水性。在韓國應用廣泛。
 
用途與使用方法：日向石和其他栽培用土混合可以提高介質排水性，比起鹿沼土來更加不容易粉碎，適合不喜歡換盆和不用換盆的植物品種，也可以作為盆栽植物的表面裝飾土。作為扦插用土的一部分也很合適。除用於東洋蘭、盆景、觀葉棕櫚科、仙人球類、水草之外，作為一般的盆花和山草栽培用土也比較適用。它是添加用土，用得太多或完全用，會影響植物的穩定性。
